Primary 3, Miss Ward
P3 and 6 Buddies
We really enjoyed our morning with our P6 Buddies. We picked a story for them to read to us and enjoyed a little chat. We can't wait for more activities with our buddies throughout the year!
Happy Halloween!
What a fun day we had showing off our costumes to everyone at the school parade, taking part in some Halloween crafts and enjoying some treats at our Halloween party. It was a well deserved fun day after a lot of hard work in our first half term together. Well done P3!
National Coding Week 2024
Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning
What a lovely morning we had raising money for such a worthy cause. Thank you to all the friends and families that joined us.
Noun Hunt
After learning what nouns are and listening to our favourite noun song, we took our learning outside and went on a noun hunt. We had to sort the images into person, place or thing.
Role Play Fun
The children worked in groups to re-tell our whole class guided reading text on the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We discussed the role of a narrator and how we can use our body language to show emotion.
Inference Window
As one of our whole school literacy targets we have been developing our inference skills. One way we are doing this is through our inference window - each week we explore an image and the children provide ideas about what could be happening using the clues and what they already know.
Sketching
This class has a very artistic flair so we have been developing our sketching skills. Our first task was to sketch our house to discuss with our friends. We have also been sketching the feelings we encountered in our PATHS sessions.
Play Sessions in P3
Our first learning walk of the year!
We had a lovely afternoon exploring our local area with our friends. We had a sheet with us showing the different types of houses we had learnt about and we had to tally the number of houses we seen with our partner. We then used this information to make a graph on the computer to show which houses were the most popular. This fun walk helped us with our World Around Us topic, numeracy skills in data handing and our ICT skills.
The Three Little Pigs
We recreated the houses from the three little pigs as part of our science experiment on materials and their properties. Some children used straw, some used sticks and some used lego bricks. Can you predict which house survived?
How do you get to the local shop?
Miss Ward wasn't sure of her way around Garrison so we created a map to help her find her way to Gilroy's shop. We wrote directions to accompany our map.
Houses and Homes Topic
The children enjoyed learning about the different types of houses we see and matching them up with their friends. They are very confident in naming the different types of houses.
Fun in Numeracy in the first half term!
We have explored place value outside, played numeracy and addition games, worked on our problem solving skills, explored 2D shape, made symmetry portraits, worked on our time-telling abilities and began to explore money.

World Book Day 2024!
The P2 children had lots of fun going back up to the P1 area to pick some of the vegetables they planted in P1. They worked hard with Miss Keown to clean, peel and dice the vegetables to make a delicious and nutritious soup.
On Thursday 7th December we enjoyed a delicious Christmas Dinner with our friends and teachers. Thank you to all the staff for preparing and serving our festive feast.
We loved getting active and taking part in the 'Santa Daily Mile Run'
On Friday 24th November we took part in Ditch the Dark to raise awareness for dressing brightly in the darker mornings and evenings. We walked to school together and were greeted by juice and toast in our classrooms. We were then lucky enough to recieve a talk from the PSNI about their vehicle and equiment. We even got to sit in their car and put on the sirens.
