Maths Week 2024
From 14th to 18th October, we celebrated Maths Week Ireland in school with every class taking part in fun, active Numeracy lessons.
Miss Keown's P1 and P2 pupils enjoyed an outdoor Maths trail with their P7 buddies and Mrs O'Connor. Each group completed a quiz linked to what they could find in nature. Our buddies had great fun spending time together!
Miss Ward's P3 pupils enjoyed making outdoor clocks using chalk in the playground to mark Maths Week.
Miss Naan's P4/5 class enjoyed creating an outdoor pictogram during Maths Week, collecting materials we found in our school grounds and sorting them by colour.
Super Attendance
Congratulations to Callum and Megan (P6), who both received certificates and goodies for 100% attendance in 2023/2024 from Miss Gormley during an end of term assembly.
Goodbye Mrs Mc Hugh
We said a very sad goodbye today to Mrs Mc Hugh, our treasured P1 classroom assistant, who has been a member of staff in St Martin's for the past 26 years.
We had a special assembly for Mrs Mc Hugh today, the children sang songs and presented Mrs Mc Hugh with gifts from the school.
We will miss her greatly and want to thank her for all her hard work over the years.
We hope you have a happy, healthy retirement.
Term 3 Accelerated Reading Winners
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who reached their targets in Accelerated Reading, you have all worked really hard and put in a tremendous effort in term 3.

Term 3 Mathletics Wizards
Congratulations to all the children who worked so hard at Mathletics during Term 3 and completed all the tasks assigned to them by their teachers.
The teachers had a very difficult job of picking a pupil from each class who worked really hard at Mathletics this term.
The Mathletics Wizards were presented with a certificate and a special treat from Miss Gormley for all their hard work in term 3.

Leavers Assembly 2024
To celebrate our P7's time at school, St Martin's we held a leavers assembly in school tonight.
The children shared their special memories from school and Mrs Gormley and Mrs O'Connor presented the children with gifts to mark the end of their time with us.
It was great to see so many parents take the time to join us for the children's special assembly.
Some children won some individual awards on the night.
We wish all the P7 children every success in the years ahead and don't be strangers.
Double Winners!!
Congratulations to the P6/7 boys and girls who won the Cumann na mBuscol titles in Brewster Park today.
The teams performed brilliantly and we are so proud of them.
Thank you to Mrs O'Connor for all the effort she has put into promoting gaelic games in St Martin's.
Sports Day Presentation
Congratulations to all the children in St Martin's who participated in sports day and to all those children who won medals at sports day.
The sun was shining in Garrison and the children had a fantastic time.

Sports Day 2024
The children had a great day at sports day.
The sun shone and the children participated in a running, egg and spoon, sack and three legged race.
There was also a whole school relay competition with the P7 children captaining each team.
Well done everyone, it was a fantastic day!!
Fermanagh Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who represented St Martin's at the Fermanagh and Omagh Cross Country competition at the Bawnacre today.
We had P4, P5, P6 and P7 boys and girls teams competing. It was a cold blustery morning and all the children ran their hearts out.
There was a hard earned medals for Shea in P6.

Green Flag Success
Congratulations to the ECO Council and Miss Ward for achieving the green flag for a further two years.
The ECO team and Miss Ward have made a wonderful effort at helping our school become ECO friendly and we hope to continue with the good work they have achieved in September.
Devenish GFC Winners
Devenish GFC held an art competition for St Patrick's Day. Winners were selected by the cultural committee from Devenish GFC from each classroom.
The lucky winners won a £25 gift voucher for their endeavors.

Fermanagh Feis
Congratulations to the children from St Martin's who participated in the Fermanagh Feis.
Children from P1 to P7 entered art, own poetry and verse speaking.
Congratulations to Florie (P5), Ava (P6), Darragh (P6) and James (P6) who won medals and certificates for own poetry.
Also, congratulations to Maggie (P5) who came 2nd in the verse speaking competition.
We are so proud of you all.
Easter Raffle
The student council and Mrs O'Connor, organised an Easter raffle in aid of Trocaire.
The children bought tickets and entered a competition to guess the amount of sweets in a jar.
Congratulations to Ben, Ava and Mason who all guessed the correct amount of sweets.
The school council raised an amazing £665 for Trocaire, well done everyone.
Families in Numeracy
Congratulations to the P3 children and parents who participated in the Families in Numeracy programme over a 6 week period.
The children each got a different numeracy game home each week for six weeks in lieu of written homework. The games were based on the P3 Numeracy curriculum.
The children received certificates at assembly for their participation in the programme.
Well done everyone!!!
Green Day
The children wore green today for St Patrick's Day.
The P7 children did some lovely arts and crafts with their buddies in P1 and read them the story of St Patrick.
Each class recited Irish poems, sang Irish songs, played traditional Irish music and some children did Irish Dancing at a special assembly to celebrate our patron saint.
The children even received a very special message from the Tumbling Paddies, wishing them luck for their performance of their song at assembly.
World Book Day 2024
We love World Book Day here in St Martin's!!
This year, children dressed up as book characters and designed book characters out of toilet roll tubes.
A fantastic effort was made by each class. We enjoyed having the chance to view each class's costumes in a World Book Day assembly.

E-Safety 2024
The children in St Martin's have been learning about
E-Safety today as part of Safer Internet Day.
The children have been learning about some of the risks involved with internet use and have been learning how to stay safe online.
The children in P5/6 made posters and leaflets on E-Safety.
Grandparents Day 2024
As part of Catholic Schools Week 2024, we celebrated with our lovely grandparents by having a special mass for Grandparents Day. After mass, the grandparents came back to school for some well deserved tea, traybakes and scones.
Christmas Carol Service
Well done to all our P1 and P7 pupils, Miss Keown and Mrs O'Connor on a wonderful nativity performance in Mary, Queen of Peace chapel .
The P1 and P7 pupils were ably supported by our P2- P6 pupils, who sang beautifully at the service so that they could deliver an outstanding nativity performance.

P1 post very important letters!!
Miss Keown, Mrs Mc Hugh and the P1 children went on a very special mission today. They went to post their Santa letters. The boys and girls have been very good in school and will definitely be on the good list.
Daily Mile Santa Run 2023
Today we took part in the Daily Mile Santa Run. We joined many schools in Northern Ireland who took part in the Christmas run. We wore festive jumpers and accessories. It was so much fun. Thank you to Miss Ward and the ECO council for organising the event.
Making Soup
The present P2 class planted some vegetables with Miss Keown when they were in P1. The vegetables included carrots, potatoes and onions.
When the vegetables had grown in term 1 this year, Miss Keown sought out the P2 children to make some delicious vegetable soup.
Well done Miss Keown and children.
Shoe Box Appeal 2023
St Martin's elves were busy collecting lots of goodies to put in shoe boxes for the annual shoe box appeal. Thank you to the school council and Miss Keown for organising this event.
Ditch the Dark Day
Today, to promote safe and active means of travelling to school, we celebrated 'Ditch the Dark Day.' Many thanks to everyone who participated and helped us raise awareness of the importance of safe travel to school, particularly as the days become darker in the winter months.
The PSNI also visited school today and shared some important information on how we can stay safe on the roads.
We had some amazingly bright outfits in school, with some children even going to the extra effort of creating and accessorising their own outfit! Well done to all involved.
World Diabetes Day 2023.
We marked World Diabetes Day in school by wearing blue.
Some children who attend St Martin's, who have diabetes, talked to their classes about what diabetes is. It was very informative.
We raised a whooping £129 for the Northern Ireland Diabetic society. Well done everyone!
Odd Sock Day
Everyone is different and everyone is equal in St Martin's.
We took the opportunity to show how unique we all are by wearing odd socks as part of our Anti-Bullying Week celebrations.
We raised £99 for NI Children's Hospice by wearing our odd socks.

Halloween Fancy Dress
Maths Week Ireland 2023
The school participated in Maths Week Ireland 2023. The children used their Maths Skills and knowledge and applied it to tasks both inside and outside of the classroom. The teachers planned a range of lessons which were engaging, practical and fun.
Well done to all our budding mathematicians in St Martin's.
Letter Writing in P5/6
The children in P5/6 wrote letters to people who they admire in the world of sport and literacy. The children researched the person who they wanted to write letters to. Mrs Burns posted the letters for the children and some children were fortunate enough to receive a reply.

We had two excellent models and Devenish stars of the future to show the other children the beautiful jerseys - thank you Fionn and Maggie.
Special Visitor
Today we had a special visitor to our school....Mr Nathan Carter. He popped in to say hello to the children and even sang a rendition of his famous song "Wagon Wheel". The children really enjoyed it and provided them with a special memory from St Martin's P.S.

Devenish G.F.C kindly donated footballs to the school.
The balls have been put to good use by KS1 and KS2 classes during PE lessons.
The children have really enjoyed using them.
